Hälsans Kök Creamy Vegan “Chicken” Sauce

According to MarketsandMarkets, the plant-based meat market was valued at approximately $4.3 billion in 2020, and it will reach $8.3 billion by 2025. Those numbers mean only good news for us vegans – more options, wider variety and hopefully more accessible options across the globe.

When it comes to vegan “chicken”, I believe Hälsans Kök have absolutely nailed it with their vegan chicken filet pieces. I do not fully remember how chicken tastes like, but the Hälsans Kök variation is so delicious that it is all I want my vegan chicken to be.

A creamy sauce goes so well with rice, in fact it is the meal that seems to most often impress my non vegan friends and with good reason. This meal is super quick to make, full of flavor and the perfect substitute for those missing a creamy vegan chicken variation to go with their rice.

What vegan cream should we use?

Now, due to the processed vegan chicken and the cream, this meal is definitely not a healthy option for those watching their weight or aiming for a whole food diet. However, it is a cheat meal that I believe everyone should try once or twice.

For vegan cream, I use Naturli’s vegan cream – Havre Cuisine. I have also tried creating this meal with two packs of Oatly’s cream but I honestly believe that Naturli’s version is a lot tastier.

If you are looking for a more natural option, this meal should work just fine if you use coconut milk or any kind of plant milk + adding 2-3 tbsp of flour or corn starch to make it creamier.

Hälsans Kök Creamy Vegan “Chicken” Sauce

Hälsans Kök Creamy Vegan "Chicken" sauce – an easy to cook satisfying and savory vegan replacement to creamy chicken with rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pack Hälsans Kök Vegan Filet or another vegan chicken option
  • 1 pack/ 500ml Naturli Havre Cuisine or another option – see notes
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat up a large pan with a little bit of water or oil. I use water as I find that it is all I need to cook my vegan chicken.
  • Pour the vegan chicken in and stir around until it is defrosted and cooked. Taste it to make sure it is properly cooked.
  • Add the paprika, salt and black pepper – stir around.
  • Add the cream of choice and stir around.
  • Taste – if needed add a bit more salt or any spice you like.
  • Your sauce is ready to be served! Tastes best served on top of white rice.

Notes

  • Naturli Havre Cuisine alternatives: 1-2 cans coconut milk or 500ml plant milk + 3-4tbsp flour (or corn starch), stir around until it is creamy.
  • Best served with white rice but also works with brown rice or on top of quinoa.
  • You can add some green onion or chives on top for decoration.
