Update: Unfortunately, just a few months after writing this post Grønnere cafe had already closed its doors. Hope you got to try it out and maybe we will see more of it again some day.
Grønnere cafe is an amazing cozy cafe that just popped up in Nørrebro. They share the space together with RelovedCPH with which they also share an important mission. Their mission has a lot to do with creating a better, sustainable world for all of us. RelovedCPH is a webshop with a growing selection of sustainable products for your home.
I got the chance today to visit their physical cafe/shop located in Nørrebro, luckily for me, just a minute walk away from my home. Grønnere café is currently hidden under the construction that has been occupying the street for the last few months but if you look closer, you can see through the window, their charming cafe or as Danes might call it “hyggeligt” and it really is.
*hyggeligt – In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. While quite difficult to describe in English, I would say that sentence sums it up pretty well.
At Grønnere cafe, together with RelovedCPH they believe that sustainability should be for everyone – not just the few who have an extra good opportunity to make all the “right” decisions. They believe that every single choice makes a difference in the big picture.
I only had the chance to try a Vanilla Chai Latte so far (which was great) but I was excited to write about the place anyway. The café reminds me of a place I used to work at called “Good Life Society” which unfortunately doesn’t exist anymore but had the best design in a cafe I had ever seen (if we talk about vintage, hygge, cozy design). For me, one of the best things about Grønnere café is their atmosphere. The café somehow makes me feel warm and at home like I just need to grab a friend and talk for hours sitting on the cozy chairs, enjoying a warm cup of coffee or tea.
The menu itself has a wide variety of plant-based drinks.
You can try some of their Speciality Lattes to begin with:
- Shroom Brew
- Golden mylk
- Matcha Latte
- Vanilla Chai Latte
- Sugarfree Spiced Chai Latte
- A wide variety of tea!
- All the coffee you can think of.
And a lot more!
Unlike many other cafes around town, you can actually get your coffee decaf for only 5,- extra!
+ All can be made Iced for FREE.
I have unfortunately not had a chance to try it yet but I will introduce you to what you can find at the moment. From what I understand, the cafe is going to evolve continuously with new dishes appearing on the menu.
UPDATE: Coming as soon as I try the food!
- Portobello Rye Sandwich – with mustard pickles, hummus, crunchy cabbage and a little salad on the side.
- Club Sandwich – baked oyster mushrooms, hummus, curry-pickled cucumbers, cabbage and oil-free curry dressing.
- The Snack Plate – With hummus, pickles, olives, cornichons and freshly baked bread.
- Translated directly from Danish koldskål – “Cold buttermilk soup” – with vanilla and lemon.
See their full MENU HERE.
You can check every day what desserts or freshly baked goods they have at the bar as it changes from day to day.
The RelovedCPH Webshop
While I normally write mostly about the cafe itself, I think it’s important to mention RelovedCPH’s webshop as they share the space with the cafe and you are able to get all kinds of sustainable products for your bathroom, kitchen, and everyday life.
You can visit the webshop here and explore the selection.
