An awesome vegan restaurant in Copenhagen
“Eat Like You Give a Fork”
Available in three locations around Copenhagen, Souls offers tasty vegan options in three parts of this beautiful city. You can find Souls in Nørreport, near the lakes; in Østerbro; and at the Torvehallerne street market.
Souls have won multiple awards such as “Best Vegan Restaurant 2020” by Denmark’s Vegan Society and Most Sustainable Take-Away by Just Eat. Once you try it, you will understand why Souls keep winning awards.
What makes Souls special?
Souls has been founded by two Australians – Jason and Matt. Their menus have been developed by “two kitchen gurus” with many years of experience in both global and local cuisine at Michelin starred restaurants (and you can tell after you taste the food!).
“Our aim in the kitchen is to be able to entice everyone from all walks of life, to not be closed minded to normal plant based cuisine.”
Souls is one of those restaurants in Copenhagen where you can take your non-vegan friends to show them just how tasty vegan food can be!
Souls Ark Nørreport
The location opened recently on the 5th of August. I happen to live very close to this one so it is exciting for me to have it so nearby.
Ark is actually slightly different – it is a new vegan restaurant and cocktail bar developed by the team behind Souls. The aim with this new concept is to get rid of the current narratives that surround vegan food and exceed the expectations.
Surrounded in a cozy environment, inspired by Danish design, one can enjoy casual fine dining and a menu driven by seasons and both local and global influences. This style of dining invites you to share food with your dining partners (but you obviously don’t necessarily have to!) See full menu here.
With a focus on fresh ingredients and a health-driven and vibrant plant-based food, you can enjoy your dinner knowing that you ease the pressure on the environment with a more sustainable cuisine.
Among other things, at this vegan restaurant, you can enjoy a Bruschetta (Three servings on grilled sourdough bread: tomatoes marinated with vanilla and lime/ homemade cashew ‘feta’, olives and dill / almond pistou and avocado), a Mushroom and Truffle Burger (‘Beyond Meat’ patty, ‘cheddar’, rocket, truffle vinaigrette. Dressed portobello, shiitake powder, confit garlic and chive mayonnaise. Served with fries.), and finish off with Hazelnut Truffles.
Souls Street Food
If you’re looking for something a bit more vibrant and dynamic then the food market at Torvehallerne is for you. All the food is nothing short of fantastic and will take care of most your cravings.
Among other things, you can enjoy a Mushroom and Truffle Burger (Mushroom patty, fennel slaw, crispy nori, shittake powder, truffle and nori ‘mayonnaise’.) and Panko Fried Tofu (Panko breaded tofu with peanut and chili sauce, cucumber, bean sprouts, chili and coriander with lime vinaigrette). The kind of vegan food that you wish you could have at home every day!
